Unsolved '66: Lies Unravel in the Zodiac Killer Case
It’s further proof that William Thoresen III was the Zodiac.
In the 2008 documentary, This is the Zodiac Speaking, former San Francisco police patrolmen, Armond Pelissetti and Donald Fouke, recall the night that they sped to the location where the Zodiac Killer murdered Paul Stine.
But almost forty years after Stine’s murder, there are reasons to believe that Fouke lied about what he saw and in a case that more than a few already believed was covered up.
About a month after Stine’s murder, Fouke reported that he saw the Zodiac Killer about a block from the crime scene, and that Zodiac was walking east and then north. But in the documentary, Fouke says “because [Zodiac] was putting his head down when he spotted [our] police car and turned into the entranceway of a house—by entranceway, I mean stairs leading up that are concrete to a path that leads to a front door.”
But there’s no mention of the entranceway or stairs, and Zodiac proceeding to them, in Fouke’s 1969 report. But why would Fouke change his story regarding this?
Because if Zodiac approached a house a block from the crime scene this would imply that the killer did not continue to walk in a northeasterly direction—the direction of William Thoresen’s house.
Reasons to believe that Fouke lied about seeing Zodiac walk to the entranceway of a house include this detail not being in his original report. Also, if he saw Zodiac approach a residence, it would have been the first place that Fouke would have gone after realizing that he saw the killer. But he went to an area park instead.
